Bad news for Jose Mourinho as £30m Luke Shaw replacement could snub Manchester United

Sessegnon

According to The Sun, Fulham’s left-midfielder Ryan Sessegnon could turn down interest from Manchester United and Tottenham to stay at Craven Cottage, should his side earn promotion from the Championship.

The 17-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as a potential replacement for the out-of-form Luke Shaw, with the United defender currently behind Ashley Young in the pecking order under Jose Mourinho.

A £30m deal to take Sessegnon to Manchester has been mooted, but the teenager could stay at Fulham if the Londoners make it to the Premier League this season.

The Cottagers currently sit third in the Championship table, seven points off an automatic promotion spot but eight points clear of seventh-placed Bristol City. Fulham look destined for the playoffs and success could mean they keep their most talent player for at least one more year.

Sessegnon has scored and created 19 goals in 38 games this season, creating 45 chances and making 49 successful dribbles. He’s be a great offensive option at left-back for United, but Tottenham’s interest could prove a stumbling block in their pursuit to land his signature.

Nevertheless, it appears the teenager’s future won’t be decided until the summer, meaning United’s hope of agreeing a £30m deal will have to wait.
