How Man United could line up with £300,000-a-week star

Odion Ighalo Manchester United

Manchester United completed the signing of Odion Ighalo on deadline day and the striker arrived in England yesterday.

The 30-year-old forward told Sky Sports that he always wanted to join the Red Devils and now his dream has become reality.

Transfer: Hell-bent Man Utd prepared to agree over £350,000-week deal to sign star – Face competition

Praising the former Watford star, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said (MUFC):

“Odion is an experienced player. He will come in and give us an option of a different type of centre-forward for the short spell he’s staying with us.”

The question is, how will United utilize the 35-capped Nigerian international in their starting XI after the winter break?

Ighalo has played out wide on the left flank in his career but mainly, he is an out and out center forward and therefore, Solskjaer should look to deploy him in his preferred position.

The African star has got ample Premier League experience under his belt. He scored 40 goals in 100 appearances (all competitions) during his time with the Hornets. Last term, the £300,000-a-week star (The Mail) had an injury hit campaign with Shanghai and managed to score 10 goals in 15 starts in the Chinese Super League.

In the absence of Marcus Rashford, the Norwegian manager has mainly played with two strikers and in that setup, Anthony Martial has regularly started in the center forward’s position.

Against, Liverpool, James partnered the French international and vs Man City and Tranmere Rovers, Greenwood started with the former Monaco man.

So, we can expect Ighalo and Martial to start up front in the strike-force and winter’s marquee signing, Bruno Fernandes, would likely play behind the duo in his preferred No. 10 role.
