Jose Mourinho provides Injury Update ahead of West Ham clash

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he has a relatively full squad to choose from other than the injured trio of Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and Marcus Rojo. The Red Devils begin their Premier League campaign against West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday and Mourinho will be quietly confident over the fixture with the club having lost just once in the last 10 meetings.

In an interview with MUTV, Mourinho revealed that the entire ‘pre-season’ squad is fit for the new campaign apart from Shaw, Young and Rojo, who are long-term absentees from last term, he said: “Everyone is available except the injuries that everybody knows, so the injuries that come from the previous season with surgeries. [We have] one more reason to be happy because, in this pre-season, we didn’t lose any player. Every one of the 22, plus the goalkeepers, that started the pre-season is ready for Premier League match one.”

Centre-backs Eric Bailly and Phil Jones missed the 2-1 European Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid due to suspension, but they will be back in contention for the Sunday clash. Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic could all feature in a United shirt for the first time at home. United have not quite found the breakthrough in the pursuit of their fourth summer signing but the likes of Gareth Bale, Serge Aurier and Ivan Perisic continue to be linked with proposed moves to Old Trafford prior to this month’s transfer deadline.
