Another day, another rumor about Harry Maguire and yet another twist in the transfer saga involving the two Manchester clubs.
Last month, Mirror Sport claimed that Manchester United have decided to leave the race to lure the central defender due to Leicester City’s very high demands.
Few days back, the British source claimed that the Red Devils made a huge bid worth £70million for the England international but the Foxes want £90million for their prized asset.
Now, according to an exclusive report covered by 90min, Manchester City are not prepared to meet Leicester’s asking price, leaving Man United clear to agree a deal to sign the Three Lions defender. Similarly, The Sun also revealed that the Sky Blues have pulled out of the race to sign Maguire.
I was one of those United supporters who laughed at Liverpool when they broke their transfer record to sign Van Dijk from Southampton.
Now, the Dutch international looks like a bargain. The Reds had the best defensive record in the Premier League with Van Dijk commanding the back-line and to be honest, at Old Trafford, we need someone like him.
The Anfield club were persistent in their efforts to lure the Netherlands star from the Saints because Klopp knew how important he was.
So, if Solskjaer is confident that Maguire has what it takes to solve our defensive woes then he must do whatever it takes (even pay £90million if needed) to lure the 26-year-old.
