Man Utd consider move to sign £75,000-a-week proven quality star in January

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Man Utd boss

Manchester United need to sign an out and out striker after not replacing Lukaku in the summer transfer window. Numerous quality players are linked with the Red Devils and one of them is Edin Dzeko.

According to ESPN, Man Utd are looking to reinforce their strike-force with an experienced star and they are considering a move to sign the Bosnian international in January.

The report (ESPN) indicates that Solskjaer wants to sign a center forward in winter and the Giallorossi goalscorer has moved ahead of Mario Mandzukic on United’s wish-list.

Dzeko and Mandzukic are proven quality strikers but the latter has not played a single game for Juventus this season and the former is still a regular starter at AS Roma.

Furthermore, Dzeko has proved his worth in the Premier League with Manchester City. He was a key member of the Sky Blues squad that won the title in 2012 and in 2014.

Therefore, in my view, the former Citizens star is a much better option for United to sign in January as compared to the retired Croatian international. Still, it must be remembered that he will turn 34 in March and will only be a short term fix at Old Trafford.

Back in August, the former Wolfsburg man signed a new deal with the Serie A club, which will expire in 2022 and at the moment, he earns around £75,000-a-week (Forbes).

He scored 72 goals in 189 appearances for Manchester City. In the current campaign, so far, he has netted 6 goals and provided 2 assists in 15 appearances for Roma.

In your view, should Man Utd splash the cash to sign Edin Dzeko in January?
