Manchester United have been linked with West Ham center half Issa Diop as per recent reports and the latest update coming from France seems positive for the Red Devils.
According to a report covered by France Football, Man Utd’s chances of signing the French international have really increased. Why? Because United are losing out on luring most of their other key defensive targets, so, they have to focus on signing Diopp.
The French source have claimed that as far as the Old Trafford club are concerned, Matthijs de Ligt and Kalidou Koulibaly seem inaccessible and at the moment, rivals and neighbors Manchester City are winning the race to hire the services of Leicester City star Harry Maguire.
United had a highly inconsistent defense in the last campaign and one of the main reasons behind their inconsistency was that they lacked a leader in their back-line. They still do.
Liverpool solved their defensive concerns by hiring the services of Van Dijk and Solskjaer needs a commanding center half like the Dutchman at Old Trafford.
Since Van Dijk’s move to Anfield, the price tags of the central defenders have increased substantially and France Football claim that West Ham are looking to take advantage of that and hope to get a fee of 84 million euros for their prized asset. However, it is mentioned that a fee of 65 million euros (£58million) could be enough to finalize the deal.
In his debut Premier League campaign, Diop made 33 appearances for the Hammers and helped them finish 10th in the table. He was able to score a goal as well. After just one season in the top flight of English football, the asking price of 84 million does not make much sense.
Few days back, The Sun revealed that Phil Jones has been offered to West Ham in order to lure Diopp. On the other hand, France Football have mentioned the names of Rojo and Darmian. FF state that United have no choice and in the coming days, they will make new attempts to lure the former Toulouse defender.
We will keep you updated.
