Manchester United can land 24-year-old full-back for just £25m

Manchester United could switch the attention to Paris Saint-Germain’s Serge Aurier as they look to strengthen their right-back department ahead of the new season. Antonio Valencia has performed exceptionally well on the right side of the defence, but Mourinho is still on the search for a suitable competitor with Matteo Darmian – a probable candidate to leave Old Trafford.

According to The Independent, the Red Devils could turn their focus towards Aurier, who is looking for a way out of Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The 24-year-old had shared the duties alongside Thomas Meunier last season, and the arrival of Dani Alves on a free could further reduce playing time.

Les Parisiens boss Unai Emery has been keen to keep hold of Aurier at Parc des Princes, but he himself has admitted that the right-back will be leaving the club this summer, he told L’Equipe: “I spoke with Serge to tell him that I wanted him to stay. He told me that he wants to leave and he preferred staying in Paris (instead of going on pre-season) to prepare for his departure.”

Mourinho has made the signing of a new right-back a priority for the summer, but the club have not found much success with their initial targets. Nelson Semedo joined Barcelona from Benfica earlier in the week whilst Monaco have been reluctant to place a price on the versatile Fabinho. An offer of £25m is likely to be sufficient to persuade Paris Saint-Germain to do business for Aurier this summer.
