Manchester United centre-back fears for his future amid Maguire link

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo is fearful that he could be shown the exit door this summer, should Jose Mourinho get his wish to acquire a new centre-back before the transfer deadline.

The Argentina international has yet to report for pre-season duty with United after sustaining an unspecified injury during the World Cup which has hampered him from doing so.

According to The Telegraph, Rojo is worried that he could be deemed surplus to requirements, if Mourinho manages to acquire a new central defender before the transfer window shuts on August 9.

Based on recent reports, Maguire has now become the prime choice to reinforce the central defence this summer but United are supposedly seeking to recoup part of the funds from defender sales.

Daley Blind has already made his way to Ajax after the Dutch outfit paid an initial fee of £14m and United are now seeking to offload at least one centre-back with Rojo appearing the odd-man out from the deparment.

Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Rojo have all had injury concerns over the past couple of years but the latter appears the likelier to leave United after making just 10 appearances last term following his recovery from a long-term knee injury.
