Manchester United make big money offer for 25-year-old star

According to reports carried out by the Daily Mirror, Manchester United have placed an offer on the table for Barcelona man Sergi Roberto.

Despite spending in excess of £150million in the transfer window so far this summer, Manchester United’s spree seems to be far from over and there have been widespread reports linking the Red Devils with moves for Ivan Perisic and Gareth Bale.

Recently though, claims have been made that manager Jose Mourinho is also looking to sign a new right-back as a potential long term replacement for Antonio Valencia and Barcelona star Sergi Roberto is said to have emerged as a target for the Red Devils.

Roberto enjoyed a solid campaign for Barcelona last term but with Nelson Semedo having arrived to Nou Camp over the summer, the 25-year-old’s place in the Barcelona starting lineup has been put into doubt.

As a result, Roberto has been linked with a move away from Barcelona and United have been mooted as a possible destination for the Spanish international.

Now in an update to the story, the Daily Mirror have carried a report claiming that United have already offered a bid for Roberto and it is believed to be in the region of around £36million, which would activate the player’s release clause at Barcelona.

Despite matching the release clause, it is unsure as to whether United will be able to sign Roberto as the player could be open to staying at Barcelona to fight for his place in the first team.
