Manchester United could sign £45million-valued attacker in January

Ivan Perisic Inter Milan

Manchester United are reportedly to be plotting a fresh attempt to sign Ivan Perisic this winter. The Croatia international was heavily tipped to join the Red Devils in the summer, but the deal could not be finalised owing to Inter Milan’s reluctance to lower their £45m valuation.

According to The Sun, Jose Mourinho could retain his interest in long-term target Perisic despite the forward inking a fresh five-year contract with the Nerazzurri earlier in September.

Initially it had been predicted that the contract extension would increase his value even further, but The Sun suggests that the fresh deal was signed in an attempt to sure up his asking price which remains unchanged.

As a result, Mourinho could potentially get his hands on Perisic, should the club’s hierarchy show the willingness to match the player’s £45m price tag during the January transfer window.

The likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have impressed on the left side of United’s attack, but Perisic would provide valuable experience in the ranks with his excellent crossing ability.

Perisic, 28, has been in stunning form during the current campaign, and he has contributed seven goals and six assists for Inter Milan, who are leading the Serie A standings after 16 games into the season.
