Manchester United make transfer decision on Luke Shaw: reports

Shaw MUFC

Manchester United reportedly have no plans of sanctioning Luke Shaw’s exit during the January transfer window, and will instead resolve his future at the end of the season. The England international has been on the periphery of the United squad this term, making just two substitute appearances in the League Cup.

According to The Telegraph, Shaw is likely to stay put at Old Trafford with Jose Mourinho prepared to offer him the opportunity to prove himself in the second half of the campaign. Shaw’s career at United has been plagued by multiple injury concerns, and he is currently behind the likes of Ashley Young, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian in the pecking order for the left-back spot.

Moreover, Marcos Rojo has also joined the matchday squad recently, and the 22-year-old is potentially the fifth-choice left-back in the club’s ranks. Jose Mourinho has previously urged the youngster to work harder in training in order to compete for regular gametime, but the extension till the summer could be to cover up for any injuries in the latter part of the season.

Shaw has already been linked with a potential player-plus-cash deal involving Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose, and it looks inevitable that he could end his short association with Manchester United next summer.
