Manchester United are reportedly prepared to enter into contract talks with Marcus Rashford following the summer World Cup in Russia. The 20-year-old had a stop-start season under Jose Mourinho last term but he still ended the campaign with the second-best forward contribution after Romelu Lukaku.
Rashford is currently contracted to United until the summer of 2022 with the option of a further year but according to The Sun, the hierarchy are keen to commit him to a new long-term deal on a significant pay-rise.
As per the publication, the board are eager to offer salary hikes to some of the existing squad players and Rashford is one of those who could witness his wage rise from £80,000 to £130,000 a week.
Rashford is currently with the England national side in preparation for the summer World Cup and his near focus is likely to be on the opening encounter against Tunisia, where he may feature from the bench.
The forward netted a sublime long-range goal during the recent international friendly against Costa Rica but Gareth Southgate could still start with his usual regulars with Rashford a game-changing option if required.
Meanwhile at United, Jose Mourinho has identified Alexis Sanchez as his first-choice for the left-wing position and it will be interesting to see whether Rashford can find success on the other flank, where he has tended to struggle.
