Manchester United in pole position to sign 14-goal-17-assist star this summer

Thomas Lemar

According to reports from Football365, Manchester United are currently leading the race to sign Monaco star Thomas Lemar.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to bring in one more player to Old Trafford before the end of the summer transfer window and Ivan Perisic has strongly been mentioned as the main target for the Portuguese tactician.

With a move for Perisic not coming into fruition despite much negotiation though, Mourinho has been forced to look at transfer targets elsewhere and reports emerging out of England recently claimed that United were keen on signing Monaco star Thomas Lemar.

Lemar has long been linked with Arsenal throughout the summer but United are now said to be looking to hijack the Gunners’ move for the 21-year-old by placing a bid in excess of £55million.

Now in reports carried out by Football365, claims are being made that the Red Devils are currently in the driver’s seat to sign the French international this summer.

Respected football journalist Ian McGarry said about the speculation, “I’d say Manchester United are in the driving seat right now. I think Wenger was depending on the whole French connection at Arsenal, bringing in a player who obviously has played for the (French) national team with Giroud, Lacazette, Koscielny and others.”

“But they haven’t got the deal over the line yet and they’ve been trying for six weeks. And if Manchester United did come in with the right offer and the right contract and the charm and charisma of Jose Mourinho telling a player how he’ll play, where he’ll play as he does.”
