25-Year-Old Could Sign A New Deal Worth Around £150,000-A-Week

According to reports from the Daily Mirror, Manchester United are set to offer Phil Jones a lucrative new contract.

Phil Jones was signed by Manchester United from Blackburn Rovers during the summer of 2011 as a very talented teenager and many at the time had touted the defender to become a mainstay in the Red Devils squad due to his wonderful ability.

However, Jones was unable to fulfill the hype that surrounded him upon his arrival after struggling with numerous injuries as well as lack of consistency and there were even talks that United would be open to parting with the Englishman this summer due to his inability to remain fit.

In a remarkable turnaround though, Jones has established himself as a mainstay in the United starting lineup during the current campaign and it can be said that the 25-year-old has been one of the standout performers for the Red Devils so far this season.

Manager Jose Mourinho certainly seems to have been impressed by Jones’ performances this season and now according to reports from the Daily Mirror, claims have been made that the Portuguese manager wants the club to tie down the England international to a new deal at Old Trafford.

Jones current contract at United expires in 20 months’ time and United are now said to be looking to secure the future of the combative defender by offering him lucrative new terms of around £150,000-a-week.
