Manchester United reveal their new ‘number 10’ for next season

Marcus Rashford has been rewarded with Manchester United’s number 10 shirt ahead of the new Premier League season. The England international has been the most-used player under Jose Mourinho since the Portuguese took over at the helm in 2016 and he now appears set to feature extensively during the 2018/19 campaign.

Following his World Cup exploits, Rashford decided to return early from his vacation last week and he was instantly rewarded with a starting role in the final pre-season game versus Bayern Munich.

Though he could not make an instant impression, the supporters were certainly pleased with the club’s decision to reward him with the vacant number 10 jersey from his previous number 19 shirt.

The number change happens to be Rashford’s second since breaking into the United team, given he had initially worn the number 39 shirt before switching to the number 19 jersey in 2016.

Rashford has been regarded as one of the United’s brightest talents since making his debut under Louis van Gaal and he has managed to reach double figures in terms of goalscoring in each of the previous two campaigns.

Hopefully, with the number 10 jersey, previously worn by club legend Wayne Rooney, Rashford can make the next step and command a regular starting role under Mourinho which he could not quite manage last term.
