Man United ready to offer £70million-rated star a double-your-money deal: report

Alex Sandro Juventus

According to the Mirror, Manchester United are lining up a £70m bid for Juventus defender Alex Sandro and will offer the Brazilian left-back a contract worth £145k-per-week. Unwanted defender Matteo Darmian could be used as a makeweight too.

Sandro joined Juventus from FC Porto in 2015 and has grown into one of the best fullbacks in Europe. The 27-year-old has made 10 appearances for the national team and has been a regular for the Old Lady this season – nine starts in Juve’s last 11 Serie A games.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is eyeing a replacement for Luke Shaw who still hasn’t managed to nail down a starting place ahead of winger Ashley Young, but Sandro won’t be an easy player to sign. The Mirror say it will take £70m and doubling his wages to procure his signature.

Shaw will be worried about the rumours, having been an unused substitute in five of United’s last seven league games. The 22-year-old joined the Red Devils from Southampton in 2014 but has averaged just 15 appearances in all competitions per season.

He’s racked up just 113 minutes of Premier League playing time since mid-January and must be considering his future as a result. If Sandro is signed this summer, Shaw could well seek an exit as his chances of game time will surely diminish significantly.
