Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has welcomed the arrival of midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk and has described him as an ‘exciting player’ to work with next season. The Brazilian was officially unveiled in the United shirt last Thursday after the club sorted out personal terms and secured his work permit.

Speaking to England’s official Youtube channel, Rashford was excited by the prospect of playing alongside Fred next season after having watched the midfielder’s showing during the course of the 2017/18 Champions League campaign, he said via M.E.N: “Fred the Red. I’ve seen some clips of him in the Champions League and he is definitely exciting.”

During his career, Fred has showcased the tireless workrate which most Brazilians possess in their game and his arrival should bring the additional spark in the midfield which appeared to be lacking last term. The 25-year-old is expected to play alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic once he settles at the club and hopefully he can provide the freedom to the former to make his usual marauding runs towards the opposition attack.

Fred is presently with the Brazilian national team at the World Cup finals in Russia, where he has yet to appear on the playing field. The midfielder, who had suffered a minor ankle injury this month, has been an unused substitute in the games versus Switzerland and Costa Rican and he is expected to start from the bench once more versus Serbia on Wednesday.
