Mark Lawrenson predicts Manchester United’s result vs Southampton

BBC Sport expert Mark Lawrenson believes Manchester United will secure a comfortable win over Southampton in this weekend’s Premier League clash St.Mary’s.

The Red Devils have won four of their last six games at Southampton’s home ground, and Lawrenson backs United to clinch all three points against their South Coast counterparts.

He said: “Saints do not give much away but it is hard to keep this Manchester United side quiet. I am expecting United to dominate this game and create lots of chances. Eventually, they will find a way through.”

Southampton have remained solid at the back this season with three clean sheets in the first five games, but United’s attack should find a way through with Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku in scintillating form of late.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan notched his first goal of the campaign in the 4-0 triumph over Everton last week, and these are only good signs for the Armenian, who is leading the assist charts with five.

Jose Mourinho is likely to revert to his usual lineup following the wholesale changes made in the League Cup, and this will probably see the likes of Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard return to the bench – irrespective of their performance in the 4-1 win over Burton Albion.
