22-year-old will be granted his Manchester United wish on one condition — report

Martial MUFC

Manchester United winger Anthony Martial will reportedly be allowed to leave Old Trafford in the summer, should an interested club come forward to acquire his signature.

The France international has had a tough time since February with just three starts in the Premier League and this has mostly come about by the winter signing of Alexis Sanchez.

With the Chilean’s arrival, both him and Marcus Rashford have dropped down the pecking order but the latter, in particular, has got more opportunities to impress off the bench.

According to The Times, Jose Mourinho is aware of the player’s representative trying to push through an exit and the Portuguese tactician won’t act as a stumbling block in any kind of deal.

Martial has been an unused substitute in two of the previous four matches for United and there is a sense that his future may lie elsewhere with his contract due to expire in 14 months’ time.

United do have the option of a 12-month extension clause on the Frenchman’s contract and they may rather seek to offload him during the summer in order to recoup the £60m plus sum spent on his services.

Any fee recouped is likely to be utilised to bolster the midfield department with Michael Carrick due to retire whilst Marouane Fellaini may also head through the exit door after declining a new deal beyond the summer.
