Report – Man Utd assured they’d secure signing of £60million playmaker

Pepe Lille

Man United will be featuring in the Europa League in the next campaign. Still, reports suggest that the Red Devils believe they can attract top quality players in the summer (Mirror Sport).

United need major reinforcements in the transfer window and as far as the attack is concerned, they are linked with Lille’s Nicolas Pepe.

Last month, The Express reported that the Old Trafford club have joined the race to hire the services of the Ivorian international, who is valued at £60million.

Now, Mirror Sport have claimed that Man Utd are weighing up a £45million bid for the 23-year-old star, moreover, the PL club are assured they would beat competition (from PSG & Arsenal) and secure his signing.

Transfer: Man Utd have resources to offer larger fee to sign £40million star

The African attacker has been in red hot form for the Ligue 1 club this season. So far, in 39 games (all competitions), he has directly contributed in no fewer than 33 goals (21 goals and 12 assists)

To be honest, if United do actually beat PSG (who offer Champions League football) to lure Pepe then it would be a huge coup for Solskjaer.

It must be remembered that Lille are second in the French league and therefore, they will also be taking part in the Europe’s elite tournament next season.

Pepe mainly plays on the right wing and United do actually lack quality and depth in that position. Juan Mata is going to be out of contract next month and it will not come as any surprise to see the Spaniard leave this summer.

On the other hand, Jesse Lingard has been far too inconsistent recently. So, if Pepe does end up moving to Old Trafford, we can expect him to get straight into the starting lineup ahead of the English winger.

  1. With so much of confusions inside and outside, what kind of players will be interested in joining Utd. What kind of environment will prevail with the existing players and who is going to come into the club. If it is an established name, they will be comfortable, but low profile names, again there should not be overruling which happened in the case of Lukaku and Lindgard. The manager is like a cat on the wall, because he is very young to international club football

  2. I’m very excited to see who we’ll bring in i hope we at least get a world class centre back just to strengthen things at the back. a right wing and a striker. and someone in the middle. let’s go back to our winning ways out with the old in with the new GGMU!!!
