Report – Man Utd could move to sign £89million playmaker and £45million midfielder

Ivan-Rakitic-Philippe-Coutinho

Manchester United star Paul Pogba is linked with a move away from Old Traffor and if he leaves, then Solskajer should adequately replace him in the summer transfer window.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the French international’s desired destination is Real Madrid and the Red Devils are prepared for his departure.

Transfer: Man United star wants to agree huge terms worth £72.8million

The Spanish source have stated that United could move to sign Coutinho and Rakitic from Barcelona if Pogba leaves.

Coutinho

The Brazilian international was a superstar at Anfield but since moving to the Catalan giants, he has been highly inconsistent. Recently, the former Inter Milan playmaker himself admitted that he did not play well (Marca).

Still, he is a proven Premier League player, he scored a sublime goal against United and he has the ability to play effectively in the attack and also in the midfield.

Yesterday, Sky Sports News reported that the Samba star will not move to United out of respect for his former club Liverpool. So, it might not be possible for United to lure him if he does not want to tarnish his reputation at Anfield.

Barcelona do want to offload him and have slapped a price tag of (£89million) 100 million euros (Marca).

Rakitic

The Croatian international has proved to be a world class player over the years. He has won every major title with Barcelona and last year, hehelped his national team reach the final of the World Cup.

The only major issue in my view is his age. He will turn 32 next year and if United do lure him, then soon they could be looking for another midfielder. Solskajer should look to lure someone, who would serve the club in the long run.

As per Marca, Barca are looking to get around 50 million euros (£45million) from to sell the former Sevilla midfielder.

In your view, who should United sign if Pogba does end up leaving the club?

  1. We don’t need Coutinho but Rakitic would be goood at Old Trafford.
Coutinho is not a traditional midfielder. So, we don’t need him for now.
Needless of killing time, we should act wisely as real Madrid have sign 5 good players.
We should sign Bruno Fernendes and Jao Felix as well as some other good players.

  2. Coutinho is the right man for man united for now when you compare the ability to play,
age, and even the attacking force.
I don’t a player that will cause a problem in dressing room like Pogba because,
his mind is no longer with united. allow him to go and build up the club.
If coutinho is going to leave Barca this summer, then man u have to go for him.

  3. Please NO, neither.

    Don’t want their aged cast-offs.

Might consider no-man’s land James Rodrigues, at a push, cos at least his stats are still good, but don’t think he fancies being roughed up in the Premiership.

Thomas Partey at £43m & Bruno Fernandes will change the way we play and make the whole team more potent for less than £100m. Still need a centre back LEADER though, but why would anyone pay £80m-£90m for Harry Maguire when we could spend half that in an upgrade like Ibrahima Konaté, who’s a skillful beast.

  4. Bruno and Felix is the answer for man Utd now because they are hungry players but Ed. Woodward need acts fast to avoid missing out
