Manchester United have mainly been linked with Harry Maguire this summer but he has not been the only central defender in the lime light.
According to an exclusive story covered by Le10Sport recently, the Red Devils are very interested in hiring the services of Barcelona star Samuel Umtiti.
The renowned French outlet have mentioned that Man Utd would be willing to pay 50 million euros (£46million) to capture the signing of the former Lyon defender.
The 25-year-old star was a vital member of the Les Bleus squad that won the World Cup last year under the management of Didier Deschamps.
However, the issue is that he has been far too injury prone lately. In the last campaign, the former Ligue 1 player only featured in 15 games in all competitions for the Catalan giants.
In the absence of Umtiti, his compatriot Clement Lenglet did well in the central defense with Gerard Pique. So, even after recovering from his injury, he was often found starting games on the bench.
The record (Transfermarkt) shows that the French star has never gone an entire season without a trip to the treatment table for the Spanish giants. Therefore, in all fairness, Manchester United, who need a leader in their back-line to strengthen the defense, should stay away from an injury prone player like Umtiti.
