According to latest reports going on in the media, Manchester United are heavily linked with two highly rated central defenders.
In Britain, reports (The Star, Mirror Sport) have suggested that the Red Devils have made an offer worth £70million for Maguire but that fee might not be enough to hire the services of the England international from Leicester City.
On the other hand, in France, L’Equipe have claimed that the Red Devils have been preparing an offer for Issa Diop for several weeks and it should materialize in the coming days.
The French outlet have stated that West Ham do not want to sell the French international but at the same time, they have not completely ruled out his exit. It is further mentioned that United should move hard and their first offer should not be lower than 50 million euros.
As far as his price tag is concerned, L’Equipe state that the Hammers value Diopp at 60 million euros. However, last month, Mirror Sport reported that the PL club want £75million for their prized asset.
At the moment, Solskajer has got central defenders like Bailly, Lindelof, Jones, Smalling and Rojo at his disposal.
The reason we are still heavily linked with center halves is that none of the current crop of players have stepped up to become the leader of the back-line.
We have already paid £50million (Sky Sports) to sign a young right back in the form of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, so, taking that into consideration plus our desire to lure a quality center half this summer, it seems that other clubs have raised the prices of the players that we are interested in.
Nevertheless, Woodward should do whatever it takes to strengthen the central defense by signing a commanding player or else, we might continue to leak goals on regular basis next season just like we did in the last campaign.
