Manchester United Reportedly Give Up on £60-Million Star Player

Manchester United have had to admit their defeat in pursuit of Eric Dier as Spurs are not willing to let the player go to their league rivals. According to earlier reports from Daily Star, the Red Devils were preparing a ‘take it or leave it’ final £60 million offer for the midfielder.

Dier has been in Mourinho’s target for weeks now. Nevertheless, the Portuguese manager is adamant to bring the holding midfielder to Old Trafford. According to Guardian reports, United were prepared to hand the 23-year-old a £140,000 a-week, a double of his current salary. However, Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham’s owner Daniel Levy have decided to keep the player, who is under contract until 2021.

Eric Dier hasn’t expressed any intention to join the Red Devils, despite the fact that Mourinho showed strong interest in the midfielder. United will have to look for reinforcements elsewhere, as Mourinho’s frustration with this transfer window keeps growing. In previous years, Spurs have allowed their star players such as Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, and Dimitar Berbatov to leave the club.

Mourinho has shortlisted Nemanja Matic, Radja Nainggolan, and Fabinho as potential players who could join Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera in the middle, but at the moment, there is no agreement between Manchester United and the players of respective clubs.
