Last year, Manchester United were very busy on the deadline day (winter transfer window) and ended up signing the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo.
It seems that this time around, the Red Devils are going to have a very quiet deadline day. As far as the signings are concerned, reports do not suggest that we will sign anyone but a top striker is in the lime light.
Transfer – Man Utd ready to move to secure priority signing of £71million star in summer
Bosnian international Edin Dzeko is looking for a new club and a move to Old Trafford is still possible but time is running out and things need to happen fast.
The transfer window will close down tonight at 11 PM UK time.
According to Corriere Dello Sport (press image provided below), Dzeko has tried everything to leave Roma but somehow he has always failed.
In 2018, his transfer to Chelsea failed, in 2019, he wanted to move to Inter Milan but the deal collapsed. Last summer, Juventus were interested in luring him. However, once again, the move could not go through.
CdS claim that the 34-year-old center forward is annoyed and has changed his agent in order to get a move away from the Giallorossi.
The best option would have been to return to Manchester City but that option is not available. Corriere dello Sport claim that lately, contact has been established with Man Utd, who could still agree a deal to sign the £128,000-a-week player.
However, it is stated that time is extremely tight to reach an agreement that will satisfy everyone. Moreover, further complication is that Roma have to find a replacement without spending any money.
Solskjaer does need to improve his strike-force. He already lured a veteran in the form of Cavani in the summer and now, he does not need to spend on another veteran. Next summer, Man Utd must move to sign a top quality and young center forward.
