Rakitic Barcelona

Manchester United are currently fighting to finish in the top four and they really need to reinforce their squad in the summer to have any chance of challenging for the title next season.

As far as the transfers are concerned, the Red Devils are linked with a world class midfielder and a talented winger.

According to Telefoot, United are interested in £69million rated Lille winger Nicolas Pepe. On the other hand, reports (The Mail) suggest that the Old Trafford club are looking to sign Barca star Ivan Rakitic, who is valued at around £39million (La Gazzetta Dello Sport).

United do have quality and depth in the left wing position but the right wing position must be improved. At the moment, Lingard is out injured and there is no adequate replacement present in the squad for the England international.

Pepe has netted 17 goals in all competitions for the French side this season and he would largely improve the quality and depth of United’s offense. We can expect him to start in his natural position on the right wing if he joins.

On the other hand, Rakitic is one of most complete midfielders in the world. The Croatian international will turn 31 next month, still, he is a regular starter at the Nou Camp. Things might change for him after the arrival of Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

If the former Sevilla star does end up moving to Old Trafford, he could start in the center of the park with Matic and Pogba next season.
