Jose involved in ‘huge dressing room bust-up’ with two Man Utd stars for Newcastle defeat: report

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was reportedly furious with the performances of first-team pair Phil Jones and Paul Pogba, shortly after the club’s 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United earlier this month.

United have since recovered with a 2-0 triumph over Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup fifth round, but neither player featured in the match-day squad at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Paul Pogba was a surprise exclusion from the side after going down with illness prior to the game, whilst Jones was probably rested with a view to the Champions League outing versus Sevilla in midweek.

In a report covered by The Sun, a Newcastle insider revealed there was a bust-up between the manager and the above-mentioned players after United succumbed to their second-straight Premier League defeat on the road.

“Mourinho was furious — everybody could hear him shouting at Pogba and Jones. He obviously thinks they should do better but the pressure is getting to them,” the insider is quoted as saying by the publication.

Obviously, every manager has the right to react following an average performance against a relegation-threatened side, but the United faithful will want Pogba, in particular, to return to the playing field as soon as possible.

Pogba was fluent in the 4-2-3-1 formation earlier in the campaign, and he appears to be having a confidence issues of some sort which has hampered his showing over the past few weeks.

The Frenchman has been deemed doubtful to make the matchday squad, as a result of his undefined illness, and this could probably see the impressive Scott McTominay keep his position in midfield at Seville.
