Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Another day, another report linking Raphael Varane with a move to Manchester United. Will he end up at Old Trafford? Time will tell.

Yesterday, we covered a story (via The Mail), claiming that the Red Devils have received encouragement to hire the services of the Les Bleus center half this summer.

Transfer: Man Utd want priority signing of wanted £69.5million midfielder – Report

Today, reports coming from Spain are positive for the 20-time English champions.

According to ABC (press image provided below), in the absence of Varane and captain Ramos, the likes of Nacho and Militao stepped up big time against Liverpool in the Champions League. The performances of the duo have assured the Los Blancos that the team can work well without their first choice central defenders, who could leave the club this summer.

As far as the French international is concerned, ABC claim that a five year deal is on the table but he is tempted to sign for Man Utd. It is stated that the 27-year-old, who will be out of contract in 2022 will make his final decision at the end of the season.

Another famous Spanish source, Marca, reported earlier in the day that after serving the club for a decade, Varane could be looking for a new challenge. The contract offer was made to him months ago but he has not accepted it and Real Madrid suspect that he wants to leave. Therefore, he is considered as an option to raise funds this summer and the La Liga champions value him at 70 million euros.

The 73-capped World Cup winner has won 4 Champions League titles and 3 La Liga crowns with Real Madrid. He is without doubt one of the best center backs around but earns a low salary of £100,000-a-week (Marca).

Man Utd’s highest-grossing defender is skipper Harry Maguire, he is the most expensive defender in the world, earns £190,000-a-week (The Mirror) and so far, he has not won a single title in his career.

We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming months and will keep you updated.
