Manchester United marksman Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly drawing interest from the Turkish Super Lig with his Old Trafford career seemingly coming to an end. The 36-year-old was handed a fresh one-year extension earlier this season after he showed promise of making a comeback after his knee injury, but things have since not gone as planned.
Ibrahimovic managed a few substitute appearances for United in November before making his only Premier League start versus Burnley, but his performance were not up to scratch with Mourinho confirming that the Swede had been suffered a minor recurrence of his knee problem.
The veteran is expected to return to first-team training by the end of the month, but according to Fotomac via The Mail, Ibrahimovic could be offered a chance to prolong his playing career in Istanbul. Both Besiktas and Galatasaray are apparently interested in the Swede’s services, and a deal could be finalised during the current transfer window.
Jose Mourinho and Ibrahimovic have held a close relationship since their time together at Inter Milan, but even the Portuguese tactician will admit that the Swede is currently behind the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford in the pecking order.
Aside from Turkish interest, there has also been talk of £125,000-a-week star opting for a move to Major League Soccer or the Chinese Super League, where he could potentially be offered a bigger payday in the twilight of an illustrious career.
