Manchester United are once again linked with Dutch international and PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn and reports suggest that the Red Devils could move in with an offer to sign him in the winter transfer window.
Back in October 2018, Sport reported that Manchester United and Liverpool are closely following the youngster, who has a release clause of £18million in his contract.
Now, The Sun have revealed that the Old Trafford club are set to scout Bergwijn with a view to making a £25million move this month.
Transfer: Man Utd “very interested” in signing £173,000-a-week playmaker
Bergwijn is only 21 and he has already featured in over 100 games for the Eredivisie giants. So, he has got ample experience and should take the next big step in his career by moving to a bigger league.
His form has been excellent so far in the current campaign. In 24 games in all competitions, the Netherlands starlet has directly contributed in 18 goals (10 goals and 8 assists).
After top performances for the club, he deservedly got his senior international debut in October last year and so far, he has made three appearances for the Oranje.
Bergwijn is naturally a left winger and currently that position is being occupied by Martial at Old Trafford. Moreover, Alexis Sanchez is there as a backup as well.
Still, a young talent like him could be a major asset for the club in the years to come and it would be a huge bargain if United can get his signing done for a fee of just £25million.
We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming days.
