England international Luke Shaw is determined to fight for his position at Manchester United after deciding to stay put for the 2018/19 season.
The 22-year-old had a difficult 2017/18 campaign where he was once more the subject of public criticism from Jose Mourinho but this has not deterred his ambition to stay at Old Trafford.
According to ESPN’s Rob Dawson, Shaw has not desire to part ways with the club during the ongoing transfer window and he is prepared to tussle for the left-back role alongside veteran Ashley Young.
Shaw has divided opinion among the United supporters in recent seasons and he would be entering his fifth campaign with United next term without having left a key mark with the first-team.
Nevertheless, the left-back has been putting in the hard yards under club head of strength and conditioning Gary Walker at the Nad Al Sheba Complex in Dubai and at 22, he has plenty of progress to be made.
Young is certain to report late for club duty due to his current exploits at the World Cup and Shaw has probably his best opportunity to earn the trust of the head coach ahead of next month’s league opener versus Leicester City.
