Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred is reportedly due to have a series of medical tests with Manchester United on Monday ahead of his proposed switch to Old Trafford. According to The Mail, the 25-year-old has left the Brazil training camp to undergo the necessary formalities regarding his United move.
The Brazilian has been tipped to join United over the past fortnight and it now seems certain that the midfielder will sign a long-term contract with the club once the medical is completed.
Fred had initially suggested that he would like to resolve his position following the World Cup but he appears to have changed his stance after Brazil coach Tite advised his players to sort out their futures prior to the global tournament.
Fred is likely to be announced as United’s first signing of the summer for a reported £53m fee and his arrival could be followed by the recruitment of Diogo Dalot from FC Porto.
The versatile full-back currently has a £17.5m release clause which becomes active at the end of the month but United could seek to push through the deal at an earlier date by paying a slightly higher sum for the Portuguese.
