£250,000-a-week playmaker has the option to sign for Manchester United – Report

James Rodriguez Colombia

The future of James Rodriguez has been up in the air for a long time and once again, the Colombian international is linked with a move to Manchester United.

As per the latest reports going on in the media (Sport via Sport Witness), the Real Madrid playmaker is pushing to leave the Bernabeu in the summer transfer window and he is not playing to avoid any sort of injury.

Transfer: Man Utd offered £58million, could now sign star for just £45million – Face competition

The Spanish media outlet have mentioned that the former Porto star is considering his options for the future and signing for Manchester United is one of his main options.

Rodriguez becamr a big name in the world of football after he won the Golden Boot prize in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

After the tournament, he opted to sign for the Los Blancos and since then, he has not been able to progress in the career.

In the current campaign, the South American playmaker has only started 5 La Liga fixtures under the management of Zidane, who has preferred youngsters in his starting XI. Despite being fit, in the last three league games, he was not even selected in the Match Day squad.

So, the 29-year-old’s departure from the Spanish giants in the summer transfer window seems inevitable.

Rodriguez is a versatile talent, who can effectively play on either flank and also as a central attacking midfielder if needed. However, the £250,000-a-week star (The Sun) is definitely past his best and Man United do not need to move for him.

For noe, the Red Devils should focus on Champions League qualification. Last night, for some time, they moved to third in the table but a late equalizer from Southampton brought them back to fifth place again.
