28-year-old makes final decision on prospective Manchester United transfer

Ivan Perisic Inter Milan

According to Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti, Ivan Perisic has decided against a move to Manchester United and will now be staying put at the San Siro.

Manchester United have been chasing the signature of Ivan Perisic all summer long and despite numerous failed attempts to sign the Croatian international, manager Jose Mourinho seems to be intent on recruiting the attacker.

Recently it had been reported that United were set to have restarted talks with Inter over the signing of Perisic and that the Red Devils were also ready to match the asking price of the 28-year-old, which is believed to be in the region of around £48million.

Now in what will certainly come as a huge blow to United’s hopes of signing Perisic though, Inter boss Luciano Spalletti has gone on to reveal that the ex-Borussia Dortmund star has decided against a move to Old Trafford and added that the player will definitely be staying put at the San Siro this summer.

Spalletti told Sky Sport Italia, “Perisic is determined to stay. There was a moment [when he considering leaving] but then he spoke like a footballer who is interested in doing the right thing for his professionalism and drew a conclusion.”

Missing out on Perisic might seem like a big blow for United by they do possess talented left sided players in Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, and developing the two young players rather than spending large amounts on another big player would perhaps be a better long term solution for Mourinho.
