Transfer Move: £30 million player could replace De Gea at Man Utd

Manchester United could move for Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel in case De Gea leaves for Real Madrid in this transfer window.

Jose Mourinho is open to an idea of signing the Danish international as a replacement for De Gea, but for now, no official offer came from the Spanish giants. The “Special One” is reluctant to keep his No. 1 at Old Trafford and would ask between £50 million and £60 million from the Galacticos.

Schmeichel could cost half of that sum and is interested in following his father steps and playing for the Red Devils. Real Madrid almost signed De Gea in 2015, but the move collapsed at the last minute. They wanted to bring Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, but the youngster penned a new deal with the Italians, so Real turned to De Gea again.

David has a contract with United until 2020 and would take a world-record bid for the goalkeeper to lure him away from Old Trafford. The 26-year old is one of the best keepers on the planet for years now, and he has a dream of playing for Real Madrid, even though he started his career with local rival Atletico. On the other hand, the 30-year-old Schmeichel established himself as a top Premier League goalkeeper and played an essential part in Leicester’s title-winning campaign in 2015-16.

Last summer, Kasper signed a new contract worth of £100,000 a week, but he changed his agent and would be delighted in joining the Red Devils. There’s still plenty of time left until the transfer window shuts, but if De Gea makes his move to Santiago Bernabeu, Schmeichel will be first in the line to replace him.
