£310,000-a-week star would like to sign for Manchester United – Report

Gareth Bale Real Madrid

If reports in the media are anything to go by then Gareth Bale is once again linked with a move to Manchester United.

According to Sport, Real Madrid are planning to cancel the contract, which is due to expire in 2022, this summer to get rid of Welsh international and allow him to join any club on a free transfer.

Transfer: Man Utd ready to agree huge terms to secure signing – Set to win race

The Spanish outlet have mentioned that the 30-year-old, who has been linked with the Red Devils in the past few transfer windows, would like to sign for Manchester United.

Sport have also talked about Tottenham’s interest and stated that Daniel Levy would like to bring the winger, who earns 17 million euros annually, back to Spurs if he can be lured on a bosman.

The north Londoners are not really renowned for breaking their pay structure to sign someone, so, luring Bale, who gets £310,000-a-week at the Bernabeu, would not be easy. At the moment, Jose Mourinho’s top earning star at the club is striker Harry Kane, who gets £200,000-a-week (Mirror Sport).

On the other hand, Manchester United have got a massive wage-bill and their highest earner is star goal keeper David de Gea, who signed a new deal (The Sun) worth £350,000-a-week last year.

Bale has won every major title with Real Madrid. He scored decisive goals to help the Los Blancos win the finals of Champions League in 2014 (vs Atletico Madrid) and 2018 (vs Liverpool).

So, the former Premier League star does have the quality to win games single-handedly but it must be remembered that the veteran is highly injury prone. In the past few years, he has regularly been on the treatment table (Transfermarkt).

He is going to turn 31 in June. In your view, should Manchester United sign Gareth Bale if he is available for free in the summer?

  3. No, don’t sign him. His attitude is not right, despite having the skill. He will only cause disruption in the locker room. Especially if he’s just joining for the money and not the win.

  4. Can we look for fresh legs! For how long will Bale be of service to the club? Can we reserve our energy on securing Harry Kane
