Back in 2019, Manchester United splashed the cash to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace and the English right-back has proved to be a hit at Old Trafford.
This summer, the Red Devils are looking to further improve the quality and depth of the right-back position and Kieran Trippier has been on their radar for some time.
Transfer: Man Utd told £59.5million would finally get signing done – Report
According to the latest update provided by Sport today (news image provided below), Trippier is pressing to agree a move to Man Utd in the transfer window and has made Atletico Madrid aware that he wants to join the PL side.
The Spanish news source have mentioned that the 30-year-old’s preference to join the Old Trafford outfit has put pressure on the Rojiblancos to sell and the player may even end up getting his wish fulfilled. However, the reigning La Liga champions will not sell him for a cut-price.
Earlier this month, Marca reported that the former Tottenham Hotspur star’s current contract has got a release clause of 40 million euros. With Atletico not willing to negotiate at all, the only way Man Utd can sign the fullback is by activating the £34million clause.
The England international won the Spanish title under Simeone last term and had a successful Euro 2020 campaign as well. Moreover, he has got ample Premier League experience under his belt.
Recently, QPR center forward, Charlie Austin, has claimed that Wan-Bissaka cannot defend well and his final ball in the attacking third is not good enough. Therefore, the 32-year-old striker has backed Man Utd to secure the signing of Kieran Trippier (talkSPORT).
In your opinion, should Man Utd spend £34million to sign the veteran right back?
