£36-million Winger keen to play at Manchester United—Deal looks likely

German club Wolfsburg have reportedly proposed to take Anthony Martial on loan for the upcoming campaign. The France international was restricted to just 18 league starts under Jose Mourinho last season.

Martial, 21, joined the Red Devils from AS Monaco for £36m in the summer of 2015 and enjoyed a top debut campaign where he notched 17 goals across all competitions.

However, with the change of management, Martial slowly appeared to drift out of the first-team with Mourinho preferring the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford for the centre-forward role. According to Metro, the player is determined to stay at Old Trafford.

Martial largely played his trade on the left-wing during the previous campaign, and this reduced his scoring count for the season with just eight goals across all competitions.

According to Kicker, Wolfsburg have become the latest club to express an interest in Martial, whose playing time is likely to be restricted next season.

The German outfit only escaped Bundesliga relegation via the playoffs, but they are still confident of luring the French forward with the assurance of regular playing time.

Mourinho is said to regard Martial as one for the future, and it will be interesting to see how he reacts to the Wolves’ approach, given the club have received a similar approach from Inter Milan in a proposed deal for Ivan Perisic.
