Herrera and Young start, 4-2-3-1: Alternate Man United lineup vs CSKA Moscow

Manchester United will look to continue their strong start to their Champions League campaign when they make the 2000-mile trip to face CSKA Moscow at the VEB Arena. The Red Devils bagged a comfortable 3-0 win over Basel in their previous European outing this month, but Jose Mourinho slated the team after the game for playing ‘PlayStation’ for much of the second-half.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Lineup:

David de Gea has been ever-present in the Premier League and Champions League this term, and he is a certainty to start in goal. Ashley Young could switch to the right-back spot with Antonio Valencia having not travelled whilst Daley Blind could earn some much-needed gametime at left-back. Earlier this month, Mourinho admitted that he would have probably played Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling regardless of the European bans to Eric Bailly and Phil Jones, and there is a good chance of that happening with Jones not included in the squad.

Marouane Fellaini suffered a knock during the 1-0 win over Southampton, and this has resulted in him missing out on the travelling squad. With Paul Pogba also injured, Ander Herrera is certain to start in midfield alongside the ever-impressive Nemanja Matic. Anthony Martial played ahead Marcus Rashford in the previous European meeting versus Basel, and Mourinho could repeat his selection with the Frenchman in need of valuable playing time. Apart from that, the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata could take up their respective places in the attack with Romelu Lukaku starting in the centre-forward position.
