4-2-3-1: Man Utd’s strongest possible XI vs Wigan Athletic

Erik ten Hag - Manchester United manager

Manchester United will collide against Wigan Athletic to kick start their FA Cup campaign tonight and must win to stop the decline.

The Red Devils are already out of the Carabao Cup, they were dumped out of the Champions League and are virtually out of the Premier League title race.

So, FA Cup is now the only opportunity for the Old Trafford club to finish the season with a trophy and a defeat tonight against Wigan will be a massive disaster.

Erik ten Hag’s men were beaten by newly promoted Nottingham Forest in the last league game.

Hence, the Dutch manager should start his strongest possible side tonight to ensure victory against Wigan, who are 18th in the League One.

Onana is still available and should start in the goal. In front of the African shot-stopper, the likes of Wan-Bisssaka, Varane, Evans and Dalot could feature in the backline.

As far as the midfield is concerned, young Mainoo would get the nod partner experienced, Christian Eriksen.

Hojlund is a doubt, therefore, Rashford should be deployed in the lone center forward position. Behind the England international, the likes of Garnacho, Fernandes and Antony may play in the attacking midfield.

Man Utd’s strongest possible 4-2-3-1 starting XI vs Wigan Athletic: Onana – Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Evans, Dalot – Mainoo, Eriksen – Antony, Fernandes, Garnacho – Rashford.
