£42million playmaker wants to agree Manchester United move – Report

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United have been linked with two Real Madrid players lately and reports suggest that one of them even wants to move to Old Trafford.

Few days back, El Desmarque reported that the Los Blancos are prepared to offer Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez to Man United in order to lure French international Paul Pogba in January. Our report about the Welsh playmaker is provided in the link below:

Transfer: Club prepared to offer £350,000-a-week star to Manchester United in January – Report

Yesterday, the Spanish source covered a story which was focused on the Colombian playmaker. It is mentioned that Rodriguez has already given the nod to join Manchester United in an exchange deal that would see Pogba moving to the Bernabeu.

As per El Desmarque, in the last meeting, Madrid would have offered 100 million euros and the 28-year-old for Pogba but it seems that the Red Devils would want 125 million euros and the South American star to let their record signing leave.

The Spanish outlet further stated that super agent Jorge Mendes wanted his client to join Wolves but the player himself wants to agree a move to Manchester United.

Rodriguez was a superstar at Porto, who impressed with Monaco as well and excelled in his first two seasons with Real Madrid but since the appointment of Zidane in the 2015-16 campaign, the South American has mainly warmed the bench.

He spent the last two seasons on loan with Bayern Munich. In the last campaign, the attacker was mostly on the treatment table and only started 13 league games for the German giants. This season, he has so far started just 4 league games for Madrid under Zidane and at the moment, he is out injured.

As far as his international career is concerned, so far, the Colombian has netted 22 goals in 76 appearances for his nation. He won the Golden Shoe for being the top scorer (6 goals) in the 2014 World Cup.

United do lack depth in their attack and they do not have a quality CAM in the squad. In such a scenario, a proven player like Rodriguez, who can effectively play anywhere in the attack, would be a quality addition.

His current contract with the 13-time European Champions will expire in 2021 and as per a report covered by Italian source La Repubblica last month, Florentino Perez values the playmaker at 50 million euros (£42million).

We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the winter transfer window.

  1. I believe Rodriguez would add a lot in the attacking department but am concerned about his fitness as we have witnessed these last two seasons. I would prefer bruno fernandes

  2. No need for injury prone strikers. Man u needs two experienced attackers to help Rashfod and shd get rid of Pogba as early as not later than january.

  3. As for me,United should but Bruno Fernandes. What we need now is attackers who are very aggressive with the ball to help Rashford.

  4. What he currently need is a skillful, fast, hard attacking midfielder, a work addict someone who is very good on the ball. Get Grealish from Aston Villa, very good longtime investment..would fit in the project of Ole’..

  5. Ole must get someone like James Maddison or Jack Grealish for that number 10 position or even someone like Bruno Fernandes if he fails to get those 2 English talents
