Manchester United could add an another player in the coming days as Ivan Perisic’s move from Inter should be finalized in the coming weeks.
The Croatian international wants to join the Europa League champions and is set for talks with the newly appointed head coach Luciano Spalletti. Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of the former Wolfsburg winger and is ready to pay the asking price of £45 to lure him away from San Siro this summer. However, Spalletti wants to keep Perisic as he plans to take Inter back to the top of the Serie A.
Spalletti stressed that Perisic is distracted with all the rumors about his departure: “There’ll be fewer chances for those players who are distracted, and better opportunities for those who want to stick with Inter,” he said. “Perisic is an important player for us, we’re counting on him. Let’s see what he has to say, I don’t expect him to say that he wants to leave, that would be bad. We’ll see what his intentions are,” Spalletti added. “But it’s just you (the media) who are telling me he wants to go, he’s not said anything to me. But we are Inter and so we can decide to do whatever we want,” the manager concluded.
Perisic is desperate to play in the Champions League after four years and it seems that he doesn’t want to stay at Inter, so the move is quite probable. Man United already bought Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku, but Mourinho wants to strengthen all positions, and he needs a top winger as well.
The 28-year-old player recorded 11 goals and eight assists in 36 games in the Serie A last season and would be a great addition at Old Trafford. He can play on both left and right flank but is more prolific from the left-wing. Man United are waiting for the green light from Inter and will make a move as soon as possible.
