Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic is still keen on sealing a move to Manchester United in this summer’s transfer window, Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has revealed. The Croatia international has been pursued by United since the end of last season, but unfortunately, they have failed to negotiate a suitable fee with Inter.
The Nerazzurri have stayed firm on their £48m valuation for the attacker, and United are still far off from matching the sum with chief Ed Woodward reluctant to pay more than £39m.
Solhekol has now revealed that both United and Perisic want to secure the transfer, but the Nerazzurri are hoping to tie down the Croatian to a new contract, he said h/t The Express: “United want him, he wants to come to United and Inter want him to sign a new deal.”
Perisic was one of the standout performers for the Nerazzurri last term with 11 goals and a further eight assists in the Serie A, and Mourinho appears to have identified him as a potential option to occupy the wing-back spot.
Manchester United have begun the campaign with the regular 4-2-3-1 formation, but Mourinho could resort to the three-at-the-back setup later on in the season with the likes of Marcus Rojo back in first-team training.
