Manchester United are consistently linked with Raphael Varane and the latest reports indicate that the Frenchman is pressing to agree a move to Old Trafford.
According to The Sunday People, the Les Bleus central defender has rejected the extension offer made by Real Madrid and his representatives are hoping to talk with Man Utd in order to seal a move.
Transfer: Man Utd move to finally sign £215,000 a week playmaker – Have the edge
The famous British source state that the Los Blancos would demand around £50m and use the funds in order to lure either Mbappe or Haaland.
The 28-year-old is currently earning around 5.5 million euros a year and Mundo Deportivo (press image provided below) have reported that the 13-time European Cup winners have proposed a deal that will make him earn 10 million euros a year i.e. £165,000-a-week.
However, the player is stalling because he has other lucrative offers on the table, particularly the one made by Man Utd. As far as the details of the deal are concerned, not so long ago, the Spanish source revealed that the Red Devils have put forward a contract that will make the player earn 12 million euros a year i.e. £200,000-a-week.
So, Man Utd have offered £35,000-a-week more than Real Madrid, therefore, it is not surprising that Varane, who has won every major title with the La Liga club, is pressing to sign for the Premier League giants.
Mundo Deportivo state that if Varane does not sign a new contract soon, then he will put up for sale in the transfer market for a fee of 60 million euros (£51.5m). The Bernabeu outfit are already looking at players to replace the World Cup winning star. We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming days and will keep you up to date.
