AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho is reportedly keen on pushing through a Premier League move with Manchester United this summer. The Brazil international had been on United’s radar over the past 18 months, but a deal has never materialised.
According to The Sun, the versatile midfielder is expected to force through a move from Stade Louis II with a view to pursuing a move to Jose Mourinho’s side. It is added that super-agent Jorge Mendes could play an influential role in the potential transfer which is likely to cost around £55m.
Fabinho started his career with AS Monaco in the right-back position, but under Leonardo Jardim, he has transformed himself into a top-class player in the centre of the park.
With Michael Carrick’s retiring and Marouane Fellaini’s future doubtful, United are in need of midfield reinforcements, and Fabinho could be seen as the perfect fit owing to the aggressiveness to his style of play.
The Brazilian does not have any significant weaknesses, and at 6 foot 2, he has a strong aerial presence with excellent hold-up play which would suit Nemanja Matic perfectly at the heart of the midfield.
