Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian could be heading for a return home with his entourage having held talks with Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici regarding a summer move.
The Italy international was on the periphery of the United first-team during previous campaign and he failed to make a single league start under Jose Mourinho between November and April.
Since the close of the season, Darmian has been heavily tipped to return to Turin and the player’s representatives have now made contact with Paratici in order to speed up an exit, Sky Sports claims.
Darmian, who is currently on £60,000-a-week at Old Trafford, had impressed under Mourinho during the final stages of their Europa League triumph in 2017 and there was a suggestion that he could make himself the regular at left-back.
However, during the course of last season, the Italian rarely got a look in for the Premier League duties with Ashley Young being the undisputed first-choice on the left side of the backline.
Young’s trailing age is certainly a concern as United seek to challenge for league honours next term but as things stand, there may not be any new addition with deputy Luke Shaw supposedly in line for a fresh deal.
