As per reports going on in the media, Manchester United are looking to sign Nuno Mendes from Sporting CP in the summer transfer window.
According to A Bola, the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool, Juventus and AC Milan have the 18-year-old on their radar.
Transfer: Man United backed to secure signings of £217million stars
The Portuguese outlet have claimed that the Lions have no plans of selling their star and will not do any sort of negotiation on the price.
However, A Bola claim that in one situation, the Liga Nos leaders will be helpless i.e. if Man Utd or any other club opt to offer £60million to activate the release clause in his contract (expiry in 2025).
The teenager has been fantastic for Sporting CP this season. The question is, do Man United need to sign a left back in the form of Nuno Mendes?
At the moment, Luke Shaw is out first choice left back. Lately, the England international has been in top form in both the defensive and the attacking third. He was my man of the match against Man City, rock solid at the back and scored a crucial second goal on the counter to put the game to bed.
On the other hand, we lured a proven quality left back in the form of Alex Telles, who is more than a decent back-up option for Shaw and the Brazilian has got a peach of a left foot.
Therefore, Solslkjaer really does not need to strengthen the left back position in the summer and Nuno Mendes should be ignored for now.
