Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire believes he could be heading to Manchester United before the transfer window slams shut on August 9.
The 25-year-old was one of the leading performers for England during the recent World Cup and his showing has indeed caught the eye of Jose Mourinho, who was watching the tournament in close quarters.
Of late, Maguire has admitted that he could fancy the prospect of a big-club move away from the King Power Stadium and according to The Mail, the centre-back believes he is joining United before the transfer deadline.
Despite this, the deal is not straightforward with Mourinho urged to part ways with one of the existing central defenders before pushing through a move worth £65m for the Sheffield-born ace.
Injuries have hampered the likes of Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo, in particular, over the past 24 months but the latter appears the most likelier to part ways with the club after his reduced role last term.
Rojo only penned a fresh four-year contract with United earlier this year but his stay could be limited to a couple of weeks with the club seeking to recoup part of the funds to sanction Maguire’s move.
United were previously fancied to fix Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof as the long-term partnership at the heart of the backline but those plans appear non-existent at the moment with the former’s fitness still a concern.
