De Jong and De Ligt - Netherlands

After reaching an agreement with Barcelona, Manchester United are now finding it hard to agree a contract with De Jong to complete the move.

Yesterday, The Athletic revealed that the Red Devils have agreed a deal worth £71.47m with the Catalan giants for the transfer of the Dutch midfielder.

Transfer: Man Utd ready to agree £260,000 a week deal for signing – Report

Today, Sport have reported (press image provided below) that Man Utd have tabled a contract to lure the 25-year-old star but he will not succumb to Barca’s pressure to accept the offer.

As per the Spanish source, agent, Ali Dursun, following the instructions of De Jong, has sent a very clear message to Man United i.e. “Do not insist”

The former Ajax man and his girlfriend want to stay in Barcelona. The Blaugrana are putting pressure on the player to move to Manchester United but it is stated that the player has practically closed the door that leads to Old Trafford.

Barca are actively trying to hire the services of Polish international, Robert Lewandowski, and the sale of De Jong to Man United will expedite the process of hiring the Bayern Munich center forward.

However, as it stands, Dursun has made it clear to the Red Devils that they should stop wasting time because his client has no interest in joining them.

Xavi will travel with his squad to USA tomorrow and ideally, the 5-time European Champions will not want to take De Jong along so that he can travel to England and complete his move.

We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming hours and will keep you updated.
