Manchester United have been linked with James Maddison for quite some time and the latest reports are intriguing.
Few days back, we covered a report (via The Sun) claiming that the Red Devils are mainly targeting Aston Villa skipper Grealish after it emerged that the Leicester City star will sign a new contract.
Transfer: Man Utd consider move to sign £218,000-a-week star in summer – Face competition
However, more recently, The Sun have covered another exclusive story and claimed that the Old Trafford club want both Grealish and Maddison to improve their squad in the summer transfer window.
The British source have mentioned that the Foxes are in talks with the 23-year-old attacking midfielder but a £90million move to Man Utd would see playmaker earn of £200,000-a-week, which is double the wages that he could get if he stays with the Foxes.
The England international had a fantastic debut campaign last term in which he directly contributed in 14 league goals (7 goals and 7 assists). This season, he has already scored 9 goals and provided 3 assists in all competitions under the management of Brendan Rodgers.
The youngster can play in multiple attacking and midfield positions but naturally, he is a CAM, who can strike the ball with both feet and has the ability to score from direct free-kicks.
In the winter transfer window, we lured Bruno Fernandes, who is a natural central attacking midfielder, so, if James Maddison does end up moving to Old Trafford, I think he might play in the central midfield. This season, Rodgers has at times utilized him effectively in the center of the park.
We might be able to offer him more wages than Leicester but at the moment, it does not look likely that we can offer him Champions League football next season. The Foxes are third in the table with 49 points and we are (8th) 14 points behind them after 25 league fixtures.
We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming months.
We need to keep Maddison at Leicester city because he is very good and an important player but we still need another signing to strength our squad because of the Champions League Next season. I hope the Foxes will not sell any key player at all.
